Tome theme · Restaurants and cafés

Table. Built to fill the tables.

For restaurants and cafés first, then bars, bakeries, venues and shops with a door and opening hours. It answers what visitors came to find out (are you open, what's good, how do I get there) before it tries to charm anyone.

Palettes

Two palettes. One for the dining room, one for the café.

Each palette sets the shape of the lettering as well as the colors, so one theme covers a quiet dining room and a busy brunch spot. In the demo each palette is its own venue. Scroll inside the frame to see the whole page.

Each palette also has a dark mode.

The sections

What each section does for the venue.

Are you open? What's good? How do I get there? These are crops from the two demo venues, and they answer in that order.

  1. The Now Bar

    The Now Bar

A thin strip at the top that reads your opening hours and says so: open now, opening at noon, or closed for a holiday. It carries one action, and on a phone it's the first thing on the page. Shown here above the menu page's featured dish.

  2. This week's menu

    This week's menu

A photo beside six numbered dishes, each with its price on the same line as its name. Point at a dish and the photo changes to it.

  3. The full menu

    The full menu

Every dish gets its own photo, its price on the baseline of its name and an info button for ingredients and allergens. A numbered category rail stays beside the menu as you scroll. The order button hands off to the ordering service you already use; Tome doesn't take restaurant orders itself.

  4. Reservations

    Reservations

Party, date and time hand off to the booking service you already use, with a call button beside them. Any times shown are labeled as samples, so nobody mistakes them for live availability.

  5. Find us

    Find us

The page closes on logistics: the address with directions, your hours, parking or transit, and access notes.

That's what a visitor sees. Here's what you get to build it.

In the package

What's in the package, and what it's built from.

Header and footer

Navbar 5 under the Now Bar, with the venue name in the display face. Footer 7.

Palettes

Linen and Garden, each in light and dark.

Type

Fraunces, a variable serif whose softness and lean change with the palette, and Work Sans for menus, prices and hours, with prices in aligned figures. Both ship inside the package under the SIL Open Font License, 167 KB together.

Section treatments

The Now Bar, the menu teaser, the full menu with its category rail, the featured dish, the reservation band and Find Us.

Local blocks

Three, from the Local Blocks pack, which is free with any theme: Live Status (the Now Bar), Price List (the menus) and Logistics (Find Us).

Motion

One reveal. The Now Bar changes with your hours.

What it's built from

A theme owns no blocks of its own. It restyles blocks from the Tome packs below.

Buying the theme includes Agency Essentials, and the Local Blocks pack comes free with it, so you can build the pages exactly the way the demo has them. The theme also restyles any other Tome block you add.

Two ways in

Install it yourself, or have us set it up.

Developers and agencies install it themselves; business owners usually want it set up. It's the same theme either way.
