Vanguard Naval Gaming Division
Project Info
Vanguard Naval Gaming Division (VNGD) is a member-driven mil-sim community operating inside the Star Citizen ecosystem. They came to Wabbit with a platform problem — their existing stack could not keep up with their own growth, and the community was paying the cost in downtime, lost data, and burned-out moderators.
Mil-sim community / member-driven gaming organization
Mil-sim communities sit at the intersection of large-scale online gaming and structured org operations. Members expect rank progression, formal certifications, scheduled operations, and the kind of audit trails that hobbyist platforms cannot deliver.

Client's Results
VNGD now serves as the enterprise reference for Tome — every pattern that ships upstream gets validated against VNGD's actual production load before it lands in the platform. The community runs on infrastructure that grows with them, not against them.

The Challenge
Vanguard came to us because their existing platform was failing under their own success. Wordpress with BuddyBoss had carried them admirably for two years, but at twenty thousand concurrent users the seams started splitting. The plugin ecosystem turned brittle. Backups stopped completing. Moderators were spending more time fighting the platform than running the community.
They did not need a tweak. They needed a rebuild — and they needed it on a foundation built for their actual scale, not for the average Wordpress user.

DESIGNER'S NOTE
Building for VNGD revealed which patterns belong in a platform versus a single site. Every time we caught ourselves writing the same access-control logic for the third time, we knew it was time to lift it upstream into Tome. The case study you are reading is, structurally, the proof that loop works.
