Call to Action blocks for Payload CMS

Three Tome blocks put the ask in front of the visitor: the Call to Action band, Enrollment CTA for course pages and Campaign Close for pledge campaigns. The Call to Action band is free, and all three install into your existing Payload project.

Add one to your Payload project

You need a Payload 3 and Next.js app, a free account and an install token. The get-started guide covers the token and the .npmrc lines.

Call to Action is in the free Marketing Starter pack. Paid packs install the same way once your token covers them.

Read the get-started guide →

  1. Install the pack

    npm install @wabbit/tome-blocks-marketing-starter
  2. Load the design tokens

    One line in your global CSS. Without it the blocks render unstyled.

    @import '@wabbit/tome-blocks-core/styles.css';
  3. Add the block to a field

    Put it in your Pages collection's blocks field, next to the blocks you already have. Run payload generate:types afterwards so your generated types know about the new block.

    import { ctaBlock } from '@wabbit/tome-blocks-marketing-starter'

    // in your Pages collection:
    {
      name: 'layout',
      type: 'blocks',
      blocks: [...existingBlocks, ctaBlock.block()],
    }
  4. Render it on the Tome grid

    import { renderers } from '@wabbit/tome-blocks-marketing-starter/render/register'
    import { adaptRenderersForPayload, RenderBlocks } from '@wabbit/tome-blocks-core/render'
    import gridStyles from '@wabbit/tome-ui/grid'

    const blockComponents = {
      ...yourExistingComponents,
      ...adaptRenderersForPayload(renderers),
    }

    <RenderBlocks
      blocks={page.layout}
      components={blockComponents}
      gridClassName={gridStyles.grid}
    />

Only if the project has never installed from our registry

Sign up at /signup (no card). Then go to Account, Credentials, claim the free license and generate your key in the same card. Add this to the project's .npmrc:

@wabbit:registry=https://npm.wabbit.com/

And this to your user-level ~/.npmrc:

//npm.wabbit.com/:_authToken=YOUR_TOKEN_HERE

Questions about call to action blocks

What can the Call to Action band do?
It carries an eyebrow, a headline, supporting copy, up to three action buttons, an optional image and a fine-print line. Six variants cover the usual cases, from a minimal band to a dark section end and two two-door layouts.
Is there a CTA for selling a course?
Enrollment CTA, in Learning Blocks, has a heading, a price with a note, an included-features list, the enroll button and an optional guarantee line. The button always goes to the URL you author, and it needs no LMS package installed.
What closes a crowdfunding page?
Campaign Close, in Campaign Blocks, has two forms. Settle is a dark full-width band with a two-line headline, body copy and a CTA, and Monument is a compact days-left numeral with one CTA. The numeral comes from the campaign source your site supplies, and without one Monument shows just the CTA.
Where does a CTA block go on a page?
The usage notes for the Call to Action band suggest mid-page or closing a landing or marketing page, and as a standalone sign-up or get-started band between content sections.
